There’s a healthy way to wilt. Develop ways to process difficult emotions, watch yourself grow.
Breaking old emotional patterns requires more than just venting, and more than just “thinking different.” Otherside uses a three phase contemporary psychodynamic process for relieving conditions that didn’t respond well to conventional therapy. This approach to therapy is relational, emotion-focused, and experiential:
-
The opposite of “blank slate” therapy. When going to dark places, we do not want to go alone. This methodology establishes a safe and authentic relationship first.
-
Beyond “band aid” solutions. Address old emotional patterns that no longer serve you. Until you can see the pattern, it’s hard to change it.
-
More than talking about new patterns, we practice them together in real time. Relational reps of healthier patterns build the emotional muscle you need to feel stronger and more focused in your life.
PRE-THERAPY
If jumping directly into one-on-one therapy feels like too much, or isn’t an option right now, we offer a PRE-THERAPY course to get you started. The course is designed to:
(a) demystify the therapeutic process, stage by stage
(b) offer examples of how some common therapy topics are broken down and approached, specifically
(c) share some resources and tools that you can begin implementing on your own
Access Points – Start Where You Are
TRACKING TEMPLATE
To track the application of your mental + emotional work, we offer a tracking template that can be customized to your specific goal(s). This can be started during/after completing the PRE-THERAPY course and/or throughout your individual therapy process.
The intention of the tracking template is to increase personal accountability and accelerate the growth of healthy habits. Sharing information about your progress with your therapist is optional.
ONLINE PSYCHOTHERAPY
When you feel ready to start individual therapy, we will meet with you for a free 15-minute clinical consultation, and then connect you with a therapist whose work aligns with your goals. All of our therapists are Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCCs) or Registered Social Workers (RSWs), meaning that sessions may be claimed under most Extended Health providers.
